I changed a few harmonies and arranged a few rhythms on this under-performed classic.

It's from the 1941 film Blues in the Night, the title of which was derived from its best-known song of the same name.

The story is somewhat unintentionally ironic. A group of young white musicians form a band in order to play "authentic blues" after hearing black prisoners singing Blues in the Night. The irony is that the songs they end up playing contain no tinge of blues or black influence.

But I've always enjoyed the film, a neat little melodrama with psychological overtones whose cast contains no A-list stars.
