It's not a bug, it's how AirPlay works. It takes about 2sec for the audio to be compressed send over wifi and uncompressed at the other end.
About the audio file you might be emailing files that are too large. Make sure you export as AAC and not Wav as Wav files can easily go up in the 100mb (way too large for an email)
