Default The Way We Were (Memories) - Bergman-Hamlisch

Does anyone have this Marvin Hamlisch tune done? If so, I'd sincerely appreciate your posting it. Thanks.

I recently added this pretty tune to my gig collection and worked up this chord chart. It is not very different from Bob's but here it is:

Way We Were (k ver), The - Hamlish

I play it at 80 bpm with the Jazz-Ballad Swing style. Note the tag ending.

    Keith,

    Nice.

My version is very similar to yours.

Way We Were-Rev JE, The - Marvin Hamlish

    Hi Jer,

Great minds think alike! I like the sound of the 7sus chords in this tune, which is why I used them. Keys are interesting: the original sheet music is in A major. Bob's chart was in G, mine in C, and yours in Ab. Nobody like to play in A!

I'll bet you're pleased to have missed the nor'easter we had yesterday. Fortunately, I got only about 6" of snow. However, it surely is cold in NJ.

    Regards,

    Keith

    Keith,

    Brrrr.

As it happens, we have friends visiting us from Vermont, who are returning home Saturday to, if the reports are accurate, 24" of snow.

The temp drops down into the 40s here in Pátzcuaro at night, while the days are as high as 80 in the sun.

I like the sus chords, too. I usually prefer to use them as the melody dictates (as it does in this tune) or at my own discretion, rather than notate them as such.

The only one I know of who liked to play standards in A was Bill Evans. Got any others?

    Cheers,
    Jer
