    Those Mal Waldron harmonies, with the close-voiced b9b5 chords, are right on.

    The guys used to talk about how Booker Little was dying of Uremia during these recording and that he used to eat ice cream on breaks to try and keep his temperature down.
    He died the same year of the recording.

    Thanks for reminding us of that. Yes, he was only 22 years old.

    Trumpet players seemed to be especially vulnerable to death before they were 40. Bunny Berigan. Bubber Miley. Bix Beiderbecke. Clifford Brown. Fats Navarro. Lee Morgan.
