Default Audio Crackle / Distortion after update

After updating my Samsung Galaxy S8 to Android Pie, I’ve been getting some substantial crackle during playback through iReal Pro. I performed a full factory reset after the update, noticed the crackle. Reinstalled the app, tried running in airplane mode, tried openSL audio, restarted the phone, cleared the app cache, no luck. Any ideas?

    Thank you.
Sorry for the problem, we are investigating this (seems to affect some Samsung devices).

Update: we are working on updating the audio engine so this will be fixed as soon as we can.

    Default Absolutely sick of crackle

I paid 14 bucks for an app that is now broken. After 30 seconds, every chart starts skipping and chopping. This is affecting my ability to rehearse, perform, and properly teach my students. When will this be fixed??? Can I get a refund if not fixed???

    Sorry for this problem.
Do you have an Android device? we are currently working on a fix. (It only affects certain devices, so we are tracking down the cause.)
There is a SL audio setting that might help if you have not already tried it:

You can ask for a refund:

I use a Samsung S8 Plus and have found that this improved my experience. I hear the odd crackle, but far less frequently than before, and my time/tempo is unaffected.

    Any updates on this?
It is difficult to use with the crackling.

It might have something to so with the reverb setting. I turn it all of the way down and replay the song and it seems not to crackle...so far.

We are working on this bug, hopefully we will publish the update in a few weeks but we're still testing it.
Thanks everyone for your patience and thank you TGSax for sharing your experience that reverb off improved it.

Been playing around with it. Doesn't seem to always make a difference.
