    [[original initial post follows]]

New to iRealPro--amazing stuff! (And would gladly pay for sampled instruments )

Would love to have "She Don't use Jelly" [which I tried searching for, along with "she uses vaseline" ]

    Thanks for any help

Ok here's my attempt but it's incomplete because I can't see the bottom of my chart to keep editing! I pasted from above and I know there's more below the bottom of the screen, but can't see it in the editor (or even in viewing). Same on iPhone and iPad, both landscape and portrait. Ideas? Thx

By the way I don’t know all of music notation, so to do things like repeating parts of things with the coda, etc. is currently beyond me as I don’t know the lingo …!

Unhappy Bottom of song cut off so I can’t edit it

I made my first song but I can't see the bottom to keep editing/finish it! I copy/pasted from one part to another, so I know there's more below the bottom of the screen, but can't see it in the editor (or even in viewing). Same on iPhone and iPad, both landscape and portrait. Ideas?

OK, I messed around with it and now seem to be able to see everything:
My She Don't Use Jelly (part) NEW 3 - Flaming Lips

Things I did involved trying to delete lines, decrease the number of down arrows, changing the reader font to hand written (although that did not affect the editor), etc.

I would be very interested to know if anyone can say what the problem was so I can avoid it/fix it more knowledgeably in the future.

Also could you explain how to use the appropriate “go to coda,“ etc., to define the chorus and then go to it as needed? If you give me the basics I can figure it out…

By the way, do the “A“ and “B“ and “intro“ labels do anything or is that just for the reader?

Perhaps I spoke too soon. After making a minor edit, I am back to not being able to see the last line in the editor, either on iPhone or iPad. HOWEVER, I do see all lines in the viewer. Here is the new version; hope for enlightenment :-)

IN and V tell the player to play the section only once at the start
A tells the player the repeating form of the song starts here.
B is usually used for the bridge. Some styles will alter the rhythm.
The other letters are for the performer.

Okay, I have an extensively updated version pasted above so it's the first thing requested.

After learning the hard way that I can't nest repeats , I learned about the Coda system and came up with an elegant way to handle the repeats.

    Regarding "A" & "B":
    • I get the "IN" and "A" thing after realizing you're talking about telling the player to repeat a number of times!
    • I don't get "V"--it's the same as "IN"?
    • I get that "B" is an indication to the player to change rhythm, if that is part of the style definition...But that's the only thing?

Thanks again for the help. Bought Mac version too

To the player, in and v work the same.
That said, in jazz, an Intro is usually a short instrumental interlude to get the rock rolling down the hill.
The verse V is a vocal section, often performed rubato (slowly) or freely (out of time) that "sets up" the story of the song.
Most jazz standards have a verse. Verses, sadly, are rarely performed.

Rehearsal marks help musicians to describe sections of or locations within a chart.
They are also helpful to describe the song's "form" (order).
eg. AABA, AB, ABA, AABC etc.

We tend to use jazz labels rather than the pop/folk verse/chorus descriptors.
