Post Mrs. Robinson - Paul Simon

My first post. My band was fooling around with Mrs Robinson (the song, not my neighbor) but we didn't have the form right, so i thought I'd figure it out.

I put it in 2/4 since there are several instances of half measures if you use 4/4, which I couldn't figure out how to do. If you count it & 1 & 2 it comes out right. Also, I couldn't figure out what tempo and feel sounds right, but it does play correctly.

Thanks for starting the discussion thread for this iconic tune.

I re-formatted the chart per layout conventions

I also changed a few chords to the way I remember them, removed the duplicate A section and added the outro.

It plays in the player like you describe.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I forgot to clean up some chords when I changed the key.

Hi, Bdawgfish, and thanks for the tune!
I took your version, Bob, and changed a few things:
    - key is A
    - modified layout
    - put bass movement in B section

I think Country style @ 180 bpm better renders the cut-time feel, so I changed meter to 4/4. There are 4 repeats.

    Enjoy!

Did you try your version all the way through using the player?
While it appears to be written/formatted correctly, the player doesn't follow the player repeat setting, and plays the coda more than specified.

(Actually it was quite a puzzle)

    The answer:
It's probably best to describe the form using text rather than actual rehearsal marks.
Removing the IN rehearsal mark at the bottom allows the song to play correctly.

No, Bob, I did not play the final version I posted - my bad!
It's also interesting to note that with the IN rehearsal mark at the bottom, the structure only plays once (and top-right chorus indication is blank), and the Coda plays five times instead of three as indicated! Six (or other multiple of 3) would somehow make more sense...
I never actually use rehearsal marks to indicate structure myself, I left them in because I found them in your version - never thought they'd be interpreted without music.
    Thanks for the heads-up!

Yeah man, it was a real mystery.
Thanks for the puzzle. I learned something.
I also left the marks on the chart when I started with a duplicate of Bdawgfish's chart. Who knew?!
More than once, I've posted a chart with the tempo set to 360...
(I forget to reset it after checking that the form plays as I intend)
