Default Smooch (Weird Nightmare) - Charles Mingus

Smooch has been recorded a few times under different titles: Smooch, Weird Nightmare, Pipe Dream, and Vassarlean.

Mingus wrote it with lyrics and recorded it as Weird Nightmare in the mid-1940s. Without the lyrics, he retitled it Smooch, and played piano on it on the Miles Davis 1953 album Blue Haze, which inexplicably lists Miles as its co-writer, and which was the earliest jazz album I owned.

Here's a YouTube clip of that recording:

The tune is alphabetized as Weird Nightmare in the Mingus collection More Than a Fake Book.
