    I just transcribed One Note Samba from the Great Gig Book (BLUE BOOK)
    I started with a duplicate of the iRp chart from the 1300 and planned to "correct" chords as neccessary.

    The iRp chart writes out the 16 bars after the B section.
    The GBB uses a coda form instead (to save space on the page).
    Chord differences:
    None in the first 16 bars (A SECTION)
    In the B section, the iRp chart uses: C#-7|F#7|B▵7 (ii,V,I) to the B.
    The GBB version instead uses Db-7|Gb7| B▵7 Same chords, different names.
    The first half of the next bar features a CØ7 (iRp), C-7b5 (GBB) again, same chord.
    The second half of the final bar in the B section contains the only variance.
    IRp=F7
    GBB=B7#11
    The only musical difference between the chords in the two charts is in the final two beats of the last bar in the B-section.

    The form of the tune in Jazz 1300 is incorrect. It shows the form as ABA, which is only correct if one is playing just one chorus. The correct form is that in the GGB: AB. It only becomes ABA on the last chorus, with the final A going to the Coda instead of to the B.

    I play bar 10 with E9#13 instead of Bb7. Also, I'd use an "END" command on the last Bb to keep the tune from running through the whole last bar.

    The Antonio Jobim Songbook, Vol Two, has the last four bars of the A section as

    | Dm7 - - - | Db7 - Cm7 - | B7#11 - - - | Bb6 - - - ||

    with the Cm7 in the same bar as Db7 rather than preceding B7 in the next bar.

    (The original key is actually G major, but jazz musicians always play it in Bb.)

    You are correct that the iRp and GGB forms are identical when played once.
    The iRp chart is actually A1,B, A2; with the coda changes included in A2.
    Playing the iRp chart top to bottom is musically the same as the GGB’s repeating the first part of A, then jumping to the coda.

    The English lyrics, are an ABA form.

    Thanks for sharing the ACJ changes and reminding us about the "invisible" END command.

    The X9#13 isn't recognized by the iRp player, can you suggest an alternate voicing?

    Bob,

    HUGE correction. The egg is all over my face. I went back to the Jobim book and found that I had misread the musical symbols (after only 55 years of being a musician, and playing this tune hundreds of times). The correct form is ABA. GGB and iReal Pro are both right.

    Please ignore all the nonsense in my last post about the form. Expunge it from my record. I was completely wrong.

    However, in transcribing the GGB to IReal Pro it is necessary to write out the last A. Otherwise, if you play more than one chorus it will repeat as AB, not ABA, until the last chorus goes to the Coda. Here's my version of it:

    Strange about the E9#11. I see it's not on the list, but it plays back okay. Usually when the program doesn't recognize a chord it flags it on the chart in blue, which isn't the case here. However, E13#11 is even richer, and is what I might play anyway.

    You are correct, E9#11 & E13#11 are both "good" iRp compatible chords.

    It's always best to post your chart directly from your app along with your question.

    The added two bars of percussion at the end of your chart confuses the player. I was unsuccessful in preventing the player from adding the “automatic ending chord” after the percussion bars.

    By removing the final two measures of percussion and using the invisible END instruction, the final E sounds only once.

    I used E5 to make it less “sweet”. I can’t make that cymbal crash go away in the Latin-samba style. Experiment with other styles like Latin - Bossa Acoustic or Electric which offers piano.

    I added Fine so the form would play ABA as it is usually performed. (With your labeling, AB C AB).

    I also set the chart's default key to match the ending chord (E).
