How do I get iReal to play drums only? i.e., I want to play left hand bass. Thanks, Ray

You can adjust the playback volume (or mute) individual instrument and FX tracks using the player's mixer feature.

The player ignores empty measures.

Some ideas for drums only:

- for just playing time, you can make a repeated section (perhaps 8 measures) adding text like 15x in the last measure (we like to place it in the last beat of that measure by the closing repeat). It will play 15x for one chorus so you can then set repeats for more choruses

- double barlines usually trigger drum fills

- if you are playing a specific song, use the song’s chart or one with a similar form to have the drum fills play to help mark your place

- there are a few empty forms when making a new song (but will need some chords or use N.C. before it will play anything)

- use copy and paste in the Editor to quickly make your measures (use N.C. or chords)

- some of the styles have the drums play differently in the B section

- some of the styles have the drums play differently in the first and last chorus

- set to ‘click’ to function as a metronome

- use Practice tempo setting to increase each chorus BPM to gain fluency
