There are certain tunes where some bass notes should be played in the upper register. It would be nice to be able to choose for a particular chord that the bass plays the note at the higher octave (instead of the lower octave). That makes a big difference, particularly when the bass plays a 9th over a minor chord. In the lower register, it just doesn't sound right.
