Hi, new user here,
Maybe I'm missing something but is there a way to keep the tempo from changing every time I change the style?
I enter a song and just want to try it with different styles at the same tempo to choose the most appropriate style, or just for fun, but it keeps changing on style change.

Hello Rob, no the tempos are an average tempo for each specific style, while many styles can be any kind of tempo (especially for advanced players,) others (like tango) are generally within a range of bpm so you will need to change the tempo after you change the style. It is probably easier for beginners the way we have it.Quote:

When I change backgound styles on a song, iRealPro changes the song':)s tempo to your default tempo for that style. I would like to be able to change the style and still keep the same tempo without having to re-enter it every time I want to change styles.
The different styles are set to the recommended tempo so our users know how it should sound.
You can change the styles in the song's settings and after you selected the style, set the tempo. The tempo won't change unless you change the playback style.
The point is, when I change the style on a song, I don't usually want the tempo to change. If the two were un-linked, it would make changing styles easier...
I brought this issue up some time ago. The change in tempo with change in style is often a pain in the neck. I usually decide on the tempo of a song before I settle on a style and often go from style to style (and having to reset the tempo) until I make a decision. One thing that I do to help me out is to use the text feature to write in the tempo at the bottom of each of the chord charts I use so that if the tempo is somehow altered by iRP I can quickly reset it.

This should be a solution for everybody:
One selects an new style. When one does so, a message box pops up asking: Do you want to keep the speed of the song or set the speed of the style?

My song is e.g. 100 beats. I wanna test its sound in different styles. Each style brings his own speed, which misrepresents my song.
I propose a popup question after changing style: Do you want to keep the song's speed or set the style's speed?
A convenient way would be to set the tempo within the song itself (as with the key, composer, title info). This tempo should be automatically and in priority used by every styles in the player.
In the player window, a button "reset to default style tempo" could be also available so users can always go revert to the original tempo of each styles.
That should fix all those issues

I beg for this times a million, the annoying time change when I audition a different style comes up ALL the time for me.
The answer keeps being 'we chose the best average tempo for the style'.
That's OK, but why can't a box ALSO be added next to the tempo in any song that freezes the tempo no matter what OTHER style is auditioned??
