    Default variations, fills and endings....

I am looking at re-installing iRealPro, but one of the reasons I never used it was the drum patterns are all one trick ponys...IE there is only one beat used for a song. No variations, fills endings etc etc...is the new version any better in this area or is it the same?

    Thanks

I'm not sure how much variation you'e looking for, but I'm hearing the drummer throw in different accents and fills, especially if you use a double-bar ending to a measure (as contrasted with a double-bar beginning in the next measure) or a repeat ending. That all also varies with the Style you choose, and there are some new Jazz styles just released.

Thx Bob, but I think you may have to explain whatever it was on the link (at the linked page) when I click it all I get is a re-direct to a blank page. Can you explain what this "double bar ending" actually means please?

Appears to be a working link.
It's to the two most recent posts to this thread:
    http://www.irealb.com/forums/showthr...-Oliver-Nelson

There's a chart posted there that demonstrates iRp drum-fills and some discussion of styles with variations.
Double-bar lines are used at the beginning and end of different sections of a song, usually associated with rehearsal marks. (single-bar lines separate most measures)
The player feature may insert a drum-fill there. Double-bar signs placed elsewhere can have a similar effect.

Many drum patterns are different in the middle choruses (between the first and last chorus). This depends on the style chosen. The fills are random.

Thanks Bob a dflat - however that thread and this one makes no mention of endings. Does the || also enable a user to create an ending at any point on the chart? And can a user created chart (not from a fakebook or elsewhere) also be affected the same way? IE can a user add these drum patterns to personally written charts?

I've found that the accents (especially in the jazz styles) of these amazing iRp drum patterns are indeed beautifully random.

I have noticed that depending on the style selected, there are brief variations in the patterns that might be construed as "fills" occurring just before double-bars and repeat brackets and a cymbal crash often inserted just after.

Here is a test chart I've labeled indicating what I've encountered. (my text labels have no effect on the drums and they aren't accurate with every style))

    Try it with different styles.....

Some may find the possibility of intentionally placing a "fill" or crash as an accent mid-section or with N.C. for stop-time useful.

    Hi miden,
All iRp charts are "user" charts that can be edited and share access to the same library of available player styles.

I'm not clear on your question re: endings.
The ending-bar sign (double-bar that is thin/thick) is used once to close the final measure.
In the editor, there is a red END (not displayed on the chart) that tells the player-feature to end "here" (only on the final repeat of rhe song) ie. before playing the final "turnaround" chords (if present) that provide for the return to the start of the song again.

You can also end a song in the middle of a chart the final time using the text instruction Fine.
